Match Preview: Esh Winning v Billingham Synthonia – 25/3/17

After last weeks heartbreak of conceding a late equaliser against Easington, further compounded by Darlington RA’s dramatic 92nd minute goal against Durham City to win 5-4, we find ourselves 3 points adrift of Ryton and Crawcrook with five games left to play.

The first of these sees us take on promotion chasing Synners, who sit in 3rd 9 points ahead of local rivals Billingham Town. With three to go up they are looking a strong favourites in that race; we will hopefully make a dent in that promotion attempt.

The reverse of this fixture, on a rainy, miserable November Wednesday night in Billingham saw us get a walloping losing 5-1 with a long drive home on closed motorways! This time the weather is looking superb, after a cold week the BBC are predicting temperatures of up to 16 degrees, spring football has arrived!

Esh have several missing players, Hewitson with work commitments along with Dan Robinson; there are also fitness concerns around Scott Arnott, Chris Mordue and Joe Wilkinson. The return after a suspension of Kieran Day and a welcome return for Mark Bailes should look to ease the blow somewhat.

Synners are without Austin Johnson and Connor Winter through suspension, but welcome back Macauley Longstaff.

With the weather being nice, no premier league on the TV and entry prices at just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, there is no excuse not to join us at West Terrace.
