No game since the 25th Februrary, ensured a friendly against Rutherford on Wednesday night was enjoyed and resulted in a 4-2 win to the Stags, goals from Clarkson, Mordue and Hewitson, with a last kick consolatory goal from Rutherford proving a good run out for the team.
On to Saturday, against a team we lost 2-1 to earlier in the season, we travel to Easington Colliery have had a mixed 2017, with a decent wins against Durham City and Alnwick town, thrown in with poorer results, a draw against Darlington RA, and disappointing loses against the likes of Bedlington and Northallerton. According to the Northern League form guide they have taken 7 points from their last 6 games and sit in 12th, despite this they are still sat in 8th in the league and will be difficult opposition.
With the recent upturn of form of both Darlington RA and Ryton and Crawcrook, we again find ourselves at the foot of the table, despite being 10th in the form guide, so yet again this becomes a massive game.
The team news from the Esh side is good, the only absentees are Kai Hewitson who has prior work commitments and Kieran Day who is serving a suspension. New signings Ethan Stephenson and Matty Soulsby will be in contention again after the Blyth game was postponed for their earlier chance at a debut.Mark Fish and James Huntley have no excuse for not being refreshed, both of them taking the opportunity of a free weekend last week to head on holiday, obviously for some warm weather training, not the warm weather drinking??
